INSTALLATION OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
#MED/PRD/GPL/00075

1. Pre-Installation Preparation Site Assessment: Ensure that the installation site meets the specifications for the equipment (e.g., space, power requirements, environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, etc.). Review Manufacturer's Guidelines: Familiarize yourself with the manufacturer's instructions for proper installation, calibration, and safety. Check Equipment: Unbox and inspect the equipment for damage, missing parts, or defects before installation. 2. Power and Environmental Setup Power Supply: Ensure the equipment is connected to the appropriate power source, such as 110/220V AC or DC as required. Check for any grounding or surge protection needs. Environmental Conditions: Confirm the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation are suitable for the equipment's operation. Specialized equipment (e.g., MRI machines) may require controlled environments. Wiring and Network Setup: For equipment that needs network connectivity (e.g., medical imaging systems), ensure the correct wiring and network settings are in place, including IP addresses if applicable. 3. Equipment Installation Physical Placement: Position the equipment according to the manufacturer’s guidelines, ensuring easy access for operation and maintenance. Assembly: If the equipment needs assembly (e.g., mounting, setting up accessories), this should be done following the provided instructions. Component Connections: Connect any accessories or peripheral devices (e.g., monitors, sensors, probes) to the main equipment, ensuring they are securely fitted. 4. System Configuration Software Setup: For equipment with integrated software, load and configure the system to match the specific medical protocols and settings required. Calibration: Calibrate the equipment to ensure accurate readings and outputs. This may involve verifying the functionality of sensors, monitors, and other components. Perform System Tests: Run diagnostic tests to ensure the equipment operates as expected, checking for any error messages or malfunctions. 5. Safety Checks and Compliance Safety Standards: Verify that the installation complies with relevant safety regulations, such as electrical safety standards, and medical device regulations (e.g., FDA, CE). Testing and Certification: In many cases, the equipment must be tested and certified by a qualified technician to ensure it meets medical standards. User Training: Provide training for medical staff who will be using the equipment, covering basic operation, safety precautions, and emergency procedures. 6. Documentation Installation Reports: Complete any required documentation about the installation, including serial numbers, calibration results, and safety checks. Maintenance Schedule: Set up a schedule for regular maintenance and inspections to ensure continued performance and safety. 7. Post-Installation Support Technical Support: Ensure a support system is in place in case the equipment experiences any issues or requires maintenance. User Manual Distribution: Provide the medical team with user manuals and troubleshooting guides.
